No.447, almost done EDIT

The restoration of No. 447 is approaching its end.

At first we only decided to do small improvements to the paintwork, to make it more beautiful but to preserve the original patina.

When we started it soon became clear that a large part of the carriage was rusty.

The rear parts of the screens could no longer be used, the driver's threshold had a lot of rust and: We weren't alone. For quite some time, mice have lived behind heaven. We found old French newspapers, leaves, hair and unfortunately: feces, which had led to the partial disappearance of the A-style on the passenger-side by long-term . . . . .

The deeper we got inside No. 447, the clearer it became that the carriage had to be welded and re-sprayed. Goodbye, my beloved patina.

Because of the spray all windows were disassembled, all rubbers restored, as well as the front and rear bumper, the decorative strips and the hat shelf.

Fortunately the chassis was in good condition and the engine and technical parts are working fine, so we decided to leave it intact except a few small parts under the hood that were dismantled and sprayed black to make the whole look nicer.

The spray was done extremely neatly, old paint was removed, the original Citroën paint and the second layer that was applied years ago in France and that was spread over all kinds of parts where normally no paint should be... ...

Now the rest must be mounted and hope to have it back on the road in the coming season!
